River Report

Salmon Lodge Fishing & River Report, June 20th to 26th, 2016

This past week has so far, been the best of the season . Water levels, temperatures and conditions are slowly getting back to normal after two weeks of rainy weather. This weeks high tides brought  a nice rune of fresh salmon to all our rivers and fishing has been getting better with each passing day.

Water levels on the Bonaventure are  high for the last week of June, that being said, it’s exactly what we want. Thirty cubic meters per second is about normal for this time of the season, we are now at 55. The Bony is clearing well and the higher water levels are allowing us to use canoes most everywhere. The Petite Cascapedia, a later river than the Bony and Grand is also beginning to fish well. Water levels are also higher on the Petite for this time in June flowing 36 cubic meters per second rather than the normal 20.  The big run of salmon on the Petite Cascapedia usually takes place in late June and early July. The Grand Cascapedia is fishing well and water conditions are near normal for this time of the season. The Grand could use a bit of rain to maintain its present levels. Salmon Branch and The Lake Branch are beginning to get low.

The weather man is caling for rain and showers on Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday, nothing too drastic but just enough to keep fishermen happy.

Until next week,

Tight lines,
