Wonderful Place, outstanding fishing

I brought my 18 year old son up to Salmon Lodge the end of June. He had never fly fished before. We did practice a bit on the lawn before we left for Salmon Lodge. The lodge could not have been more supportive and really went out of their way to help him. All four guides we had - Larry, Charles, Clement and Yvan were excellent and each helped my son improve each day. They were quite enthusiastic and were nearly as excited as dad was when my son caught salmon on a dry fly. The food was excellent. Julia did a great job, as did all the staff. The lodge itself is beautiful, and right above a bend in the Cascapedia. I could not have been happier to have taken my son on his first Atlantic Salmon trip to Salmon Lodge. We will be coming back for years to come.

Blue Ribbon!

This was our third year at Salmon Lodge and if they will have us back there will be many more. Salmon Lodge and Camp Bonaventure must be two of the very best Atlantic salmon destinations but it is for the combination of the place and the people that we award the blue riband. We start counting the days until we return as we leave. It's 324 days from today.

An excellent Stay at Salmon Lodge

First of all, a big thank you again to you, the guides and your staff at Salmon Lodge.  Steve and I had an excellent stay and are already looking forward to next year.  It’s hard to write all the feedback on to the form that we were provided with so I thought I’d follow up.

Everything from our arrival to our departure was perfect.  Your team is truly professional and always supportive.  The meals were exceptional, and really enjoyed the shore lunches.  The guides, once again, were great.  Being a novice fly fisher person, catching a fish is always exciting.  What is really memorable is the advice.  The tips are given at the right moment.  For me, this becomes a fly fishing school with private instruction.  Absolutely fantastic.  What better way to learn?  The fish I caught was a lot of fun.  The bigger fish that got away (a true catch and release haha!) taught me a lot.  My new mantra is “listen to your guide”.

First Time Fishing

December 31, 2015

From Montreal, Quebec

"Salmon Lodge took care of this first-time fly fisher spectacularly well and has spoilt me for anywhere else! I was invited to join a party of four very skilled fly fishers who were heading to the river for 4 days of fishing. The guides did an impressive job of balancing my learning to cast while helping the seasoned fishers actually reel in big salmon. The guides were all helpful, encouraging and very skilled; they know salmon and they know the river. As for the Lodge, the staff there makes you think there are no other guests, such is their capacity to focus on you and your needs. The meals were generous and delicious and they catered to this vegetarian without flinching. The range of supper dishes over the week was outstanding, and the generous shore lunches (with home made desserts!) worth writing home about. Breakfasts got us off on the right start each morning and I particularly appreciated the sustaining porridge. Rooms are very well appointed and every amenity is thought (and how many other Lodges deliver home-made fudge to your room for you to find when you get back from a day of fishing?).
The Lodge’s setting on the cliff over the looking the river is magnificent (make sure you have your pre-dinner drinks on the deck!), and the books about the history of the camp and river made us realize just how lucky we are to be part of the current generation of salmon fishers on such a storied river."

"An experience you won't want to miss! I have been to The Salmon Lodge on several occasions. In fact I was a guest prior to the restorations & afterwards. The transformation will take your breath away. The owner remained as true as one can to preserving and restoring this very historic lodge. The beauty, charm and warmth will bring you back in time. The amenities are 5 star and so are the staff and guides. Above all you will be fishing on several of the most important and historic salmon rivers in Canada. My wife and I travel with another couple yearly to this Great Lodge. I hope you will have an opportunity to also experience this one of kind Outstanding lodge and savour these beautiful rivers. Tight Lines!"

An experience to daydream about

December 18, 2015

From Denmark

"Fishing is fun because of the balance between challenge and reward, while the experience can be taken to a higher level by the beauty of the surroundings, knowledgeable and helpful guides, an atmospheric and luxurious lodge, delicious food and not least, friendly and welcoming hosts who make sure that you are spoilt throughout the whole holiday. This description of the ideal fishing trip fits The Salmon Lodge like a glove. From the challenges of fishing in waters containing some of the largest salmon anywhere to the care taken by the lodge staff, memories of The Salmon Lodge have filled my daydreams throughout the cold winter months ever since 2010, when I first had the pleasure of experiencing a week there. Always at an exceptional level, they manage to raise the bar every year."
